Incheon Airport runs short guided tours for transit passengers so you can see a bit of Korea between flights. They’re organized by the airport itself, not a tour company, and most courses cost nothing. Here’s who can go, what’s on offer and how to sign up, as of October 2026.

Who can join

The tour means leaving the airport and passing Korean immigration, so you need to be allowed into Korea. The airport lists these groups as eligible:

  • Passport holders from visa-free countries, with a K-ETA if your nationality needs one (some nationalities are temporarily exempt until 31 December 2026; see entry requirements)
  • Third-country transit passengers holding a visa or permanent residency for the US (including Guam and Saipan), Canada, Australia, New Zealand or one of 32 European countries, when flying to or returning home from that country
  • Other foreign transit passengers who want to join and can enter Korea

Other conditions to know:

  • Layover: 24 hours or less. Longer layovers can’t join. The airport doesn’t publish a minimum, but Asiana describes the tour as for 4 to 24 hours of connecting time. With tours lasting 3–5 hours plus immigration and security, a shorter gap is risky.
  • Bring: your passport and boarding passes for both flights (arriving and departing).
  • One entry per visit: the Ministry of Justice doesn’t allow two entries into Korea during one visit, so you can’t leave, come back, and go out again.

Tour courses and days

The airport’s course list (October 2026). Times are the full tour window, from airport to airport.

The fees are listed against a single stop on each course; the airport doesn’t spell out what they cover. Bring a little cash in won or dollars just in case.

The airport also lists two paid golf outings (Club 72 at ₩180,000 and Orange Dunes Yeongjong at ₩170,000, including green and cart fees) and a free 30-minute K-Culture Zone inside the terminal (see below).

Courses can change without notice, and the online booking page has shown other options at times (such as a “Seaside Slurp & Chill” afternoon course in October 2026). Always check the course page before your trip.

How to book and sign up

  1. Reserve online (optional). Use the airport’s transit tour reservation page. Pick your terminal and time slot. Popular morning courses fill up online, but online seats are less than half of each tour; the rest are for walk-ups.
  2. Land and go through immigration. If you arrive at the Concourse, take the shuttle train to Terminal 1 or 2 first. After immigration, take the route down to the 1st floor (via the Ministry of Justice entrance on the 2nd floor), not up to departures.
  3. Register at the desk at least 30 minutes before the start, even if you booked online. Unclaimed reservations are released to the waiting list 30 minutes before departure.

If you miss the group’s last meeting point, getting back is your responsibility. Keep an eye on the time. If you’re on your own, see Incheon Airport to Seoul for the fastest routes.

Longer stopover: K-Stopover

For stopovers of 24 to 72 hours, the airport promotes K-Stopover: packages booked on k-stopover.com that combine a hotel night (Seoul, Incheon or Gyeonggi), airport transfers and optional tours, plus airport lounge access. You pay a deposit online, then show your voucher at the K-Stopover desk after immigration (open 07:00–18:00). Refunds drop to 50% within 3 days and nothing on the day.

In October 2026, Incheon city and the airport announced a K-Stopover promotion running through December 2026 with a $100 hotel subsidy and a free WOWPASS card worth ₩10,000 for transit passengers who pick one of six Incheon itineraries. Check the booking site for current terms before you rely on it.

Can’t leave the airport? What to do inside

If you aren’t eligible, your layover is too short, or it’s the middle of the night, Incheon is one of the more comfortable airports to wait in.

  • K-Culture Zone (free): hanbok try-on, Korean crafts, lacquerware and tuho (a traditional throwing game). Terminal 1, East Wing, 4th floor transit area, 09:00–20:00.
  • Paid lounges: Sky Hub Lounge charges USD 39 for 3 hours; two of its five branches (T1 near Gate 42, T2 near Gate 231) are open 24 hours. Matina Lounge charges USD 45 for 3 hours. Prices are as listed by the airport and may change.
  • Showers: the Matina Lounge in the T1 East wing (near Gate 11) has showers from 07:00 to 19:30. Asiana’s transit information also lists shower rooms among the transfer facilities; check locations and any charge at an information desk.
  • Transit hotel: Asiana lists transit hotels among the transfer facilities, for a short sleep without entering Korea. Rates and booking rules aren’t published on the airport’s English site, so book directly and confirm you can use it without passing immigration.
  • Asiana passengers: Asiana offers a 40% discount on the Incheon transfer lounge if you arrive and depart with Asiana within 24 hours.

Quick checklist before you go

  • Layover under 24 hours and, realistically, at least 4–5 hours for a full course
  • K-ETA sorted if your nationality needs one, before your first flight
  • Passport plus both boarding passes
  • Booked online if you want a morning palace or DMZ course, or arrive early for the waiting list
  • Some won in cash for small fees and snacks; see visitor discounts for other freebies if you come back for a longer trip

Questions people ask

Can I leave my bags in the airport while on the tour?

If your bags are checked through to your final destination, they stay with the airline. Only take what you need: you'll go through immigration on the way out and security again when you come back for your onward flight.

My layover is 30 hours. Can I still join?

No. The airport says passengers with layovers over 24 hours can't join the transit tour. For 24–72 hour stopovers, look at the airport's K-Stopover packages, or simply enter Korea and explore on your own.

Are online seats the only way in?

No. Online reservation covers less than half of each tour's seats, and the rest go to passengers who sign up at the desk on the day. If a tour shows as full online, you can still try the waiting list at the desk.
