Questions

How do Korean shoe sizes work?

Korean shoe sizes are your foot length in millimetres, in steps of 5 mm. A 245 fits a foot about 24.5 cm long. Measuring your foot is the most reliable way to find your size.

Are the clothing conversions exact?

No. They are the usual equivalents, but fit varies between brands and styles. Use the tables as a starting point, check the measurements on the label, and try clothes on when you can.

What do the numbers like 95 or 55 on Korean clothes mean?

Men's tops are often labelled by chest size in centimetres, such as 95 or 100. Women's clothes often use an older system of 44, 55, 66 and 77, sometimes shown with a chest measurement like 85 or 90. Our tables map both to the S, M, L sizes you may be used to.

Can I get a tax refund on clothes and shoes?

Yes. Purchases of ₩15,000 or more at participating stores qualify, and many fashion and cosmetics shops in Myeongdong and Hongdae can take the tax off at the till. Bring your passport and use Get Your Tax Back to estimate the refund.
